Air Fryer Hamburgers are a fast way to get a quick meal on the table!
Juicy hamburgers, cheeseburgers, or sliders in the Air Fryer mean less muss and fuss with all of the flavor.
Simple All Beef Patty
Pan-frying has nothing homemade Air Fryer hamburger patties! Even frozen patties turn out tasty with just a little extra cook time!
BEEF Just like our favorite hamburger recipe, we like to use fresh ground beef. An 80/20 blend has the right amount of fat that keeps the patties juicy without too much grease runoff. Try ground turkey for turkey burgers!
SEASONING Add in salt & pepper with a dash of onion and garlic powder. Fresh onion and garlic don’t have enough time to cook so we opt for powders in this recipe. Or try our signature Hamburger Seasoning!
BBQ SAUCE is optional but it helps with caramelization and tastes great. We prefer homemade barbecue sauce.
How To Air Fry Hamburgers
Air Fryer burgers are super easy and quick to make!
- Combine all of the ingredients and form into 4 equally sized patties!
PRO TIP: For perfectly evenly cooked burgers press your thumb into the center of each patty so it doesn’t swell in the center during cooking.
- Put prepared hamburger patties in a single layer in the Air Fryer basket. Cook according to the recipe below, about 9-12 minutes depending on thickness.
- Top with cheese if desired, cook 1 more minute before serving.
Got Fries?
If you’d like to serve air fryer french fries with your burgers, cook the fries first and set them aside. Once the burgers have cooked, add the fries back to the basket and cook at 400°F for about 3-4 minutes while you top your burger. Alternatively, oven fries are great served with these burgers.
Toppings
Make a DIY burger bar by arranging lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and pickles on a serving platter so everyone can help themselves!
- Zesty: Jalapenos, green chilies, sauerkraut, Chipotle Aioli or a Homemade Garlic Aioli
- Savory: Roasted red bell peppers, fried egg (so good!), bacon, sautéed or air fried mushrooms
Tips for Perfect Hamburger Patties
- Ensure you use meat with a little bit of fat (80/20) so the burgers stay moist.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the thickest part of a patty (160°F).
- Appliances can vary, check your burgers early to ensure they don’t overcook.
- Frozen burger patties can be cooked in the air fryer, you’ll need to add about 5 minutes.
- The hamburgers can be frozen with parchment paper between each patty. They’ll keep about a month in the freezer.

These hamburgers are great! I don’t like to cook hamburgers indoors on the stove because of the mess, so I tried your air fryer recipe. So good – and no messy cleanup! My air fryer doesn’t have a 370 setting so I cooked them at 375 for 12 minutes, flipping them once and they turned out perfect. Also, the first time I made them the cheese flew off during the last minute of cooking, so I just put the cheese on after they are cooked and leave the burgers in the fryer and the cheese melts just fine. Thanks for your great recipes!!
ok so it seems like there are so many people who either don’t know how to read or something because it clearly says to preheat the air fryer to 370°. You just need to scroll down and read it. also the times are going to be different for everyone depending on the machine you are using. also not everyone likes their meat cooked well done so that 160 is just a suggestion. Cook it how you want it. use a thermometer. Don’t be scared. a blue rare burger will take no more than 5 min tops. seared with a cool red center so the times will depend on how you want it cooked. remember a recipe is just a canvas. You don’t have to follow recipes to the T. Just experiment use it as a guide but in the end you are the one cooking it and eating it.
Blue rare: 115° to 120° (cold red center)
Rare: 125° to 130° (slightly cool center)
Medium-rare: 130° to 140° (slightly firm)
Medium: 140° to 150° (firm and springy)
Medium-well: 150° to 155° (slightly pink)
Well-done:160° (fully brown center)
thanks first time getting air fryer for Xmas
I know you said air fryer cooking time depends on type, but I had to cook these for well over double the recommended time to cook these. They were completely raw using the times given in the recipe. Will just use the grill next time.
If you had to cook these longer than double the time at 370°F, (which would be at least 22 minutes), I think there might be an issue with your air fryer and I would recommend double checking the temperature on it before cooking other meats. A ½-inch beef patty should cook in about 10 to 12 minutes.
do you have a catalog. Can’t use internet very well
I do not have a cookbook yet, but am hoping to have news to share soon!
They are delicious and they taste delicious thank you for your recipe well done.
can’t wait to try
Think Hamburger!
It’s Labor Day 2023. Thank you for the excellent air fried hamburger tips. Happy Labor Day !!! Hope you enjoyed your hamburgers as much as we did . Again… thank you
This was ok except you didn’t say what temp to cook at in this whole article
This is in step 3 of the recipe: Preheat the air fryer to 370°F.
I hope this helps!
How do i get rare burgers? these recipes look like they’re for well done or medium-ish.
also I only do one at a time. Can you help me?
For a rare burger, you will want to cook to 120°F to 125°F internally. I recommend using a meat thermometer. It should only take a few minutes so I would begin checking early. I hope this helps!
Cooked 3 burgers 92% lean 4 1/2” diameter 3/4” in thick.
Set fryer to 375 and 11 minutes cooking flipped after 6 minutes. Burgers were medium rare.
Used a Ninja Foodie Smart XL 4qt.
There is nothing on here that says what the temperature needs to be at for the hamburgers to cook. Maybe put that on there.
Hi Jordyn, you can find this in step 3 of the recipe.
3. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. Add patties in a single layer to the basket.
Do you use bake setting on the air fryer or the air fry setting at 370?
I use the air fry setting.
They were delicious. My family loved them. The ingredients were so simple, but the combination was delicious.
Thanks
i am culinary challenged so these guides really help me have a great new years
I made these for dinner tonight. We really like the addition of the BBQ sauce. Even though I used 92% lean ground beef, they still turned out juicy. Next time, I may try a couple dashes of Worcestershire sauce, as another reviewer suggested. Great recipe!
Followed the instructions exactly and these came out PERFECT! Thank you for such clear instructions
Didn’t mention at what temperature.
You can find this information in step 3: Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. I hope this helps!
Hi, Can you please let me know what brand/model air fryer you are using? It looks like a bigger one, is it 8qt? Thank you!
Hi Valerie, I use a 5.8QT Cosori Air Fryer.
I made these burgers tonight with the exception of bbq sauce (we didn’t have any) so I added about 5 splashes of Worcestershire sauce into the meat mixture instead. They were delicious and juicy. I’m barely learning how to do temperature conversions for air frying, so this recipe helped me tremendously.
Make mine this way and never had a problem. Fix my fries with your air fryer recipe, too, Holly…my favorite way to fix both! Quick and easy peasy.
I am totally in love with my air fryer and use it for everything I can. My stove is collecting dust.
I am so glad you loved this recipe Susie! I love my air fryer so much too!
