The secret to these burgers is in the meat mixture—they don’t shrink and are juicy every time.
I love making hamburgers in the air fryer—and even better with potato wedges for a complete meal!
The air fryer makes this meal quick and easy with little cleanup.
Holly’s Tips for Great Cheeseburgers
- Form the hamburger mixture into four patties, 4.5 inches (11.4cm) in diameter. The patties will shrink a bit as they cook.
- Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to press a ½-inch diameter indent into the center of each patty to prevent them from swelling while cooking.
- Appliances can vary; check your burgers early to ensure they don’t overcook.
- Let the patties rest for a few minutes after cooking to keep the burgers juicy.
Tips for Wedge Fries
- Make sure to preheat your air fryer for a few minutes before adding the wedges. This helps to achieve a crispier texture.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer. Cook in smaller batches in a single layer. Before serving, heat all batches in the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes.
- You can add Homemade Seasoned Salt or other spices you like to the wedges for extra flavor.
- Wedges should be golden and crispy on the outside and tender inside. Add a couple of extra minutes if they need more crisping.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, like garlic aioli, spicy ketchup, or ranch.

For Serving
- 4 slices cheddar cheese about 4 oz
- 4 hamburger buns

Instructions
-
Preheat the air fryer to 400℉ (204°C).
-
For the potato wedges, scrub the potatoes and cut them in half lengthwise. Cut each half, lengthwise, into 4 wedges. Toss the potatoes with oil, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and rosemary.
-
Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes. Shake the basket and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes or until crisp. Remove the potatoes from the air fryer and set aside.
-
Meanwhile, for the cheeseburgers, in a medium bowl, combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Shape into four patties, 4.5 inches (11.4cm) in diameter. Use your thumb to create a small indent into the center of each patty.
-
Reduce the air fryer temperature to 370°F (188°C). Place the beef patties in the basket and cook for 6 minutes. Flip the burgers over and cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until the center of the patty reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
-
Remove the patties from the basket, top with cheese, and let rest for 3 minutes. While the patties are resting, add the potatoes to the air fryer and heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
-
Place the beef patties on buns and add desired toppings. Serve with potato wedges.
